Boys & Girls Club of Wharton
Since 1998, the Boys & Girls Club of Wharton, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has provided afterschool and summer activities to the youth of the Wharton community. Programs are offered around five core areas: character and leadership, education and careers, health and life skills, the arts, and sports, fitness, and recreation. The Club is open year round and provides trained youth development professionals to serve as positive role models and mentors at a cost that is affordable to all youth. The Club provides kids ages six to eighteen years with a place to use their talents in a positive way and show them that no dream is out of reach. The Club encourages young people to stay in school, get involved in extracurricular activities, and to take seriously their responsibilities as citizens of the community. BGCW is committed to serving all children regardless of ethnic, religious, or economical background and believes that there is no greater responsibility than molding, encouraging, and supporting the future leaders of our great country.
Since the Club’s inception, a promise was made to the community including the Club’s members that the facilities would expand to meet the needs of Wharton’s teens. Not only have the current members grown in numbers, they have also grown older. On October 14th of this year, ground was broken for a 5,000 square foot Teen Center. The Teen Center is expected to open in the summer of 2009.
The mission of The Boys & Girls Club of Wharton which serves more than 140 members daily is “To inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.”
The Club welcomes visitors to tour the facility to see firsthand the impact the Club makes in the lives of Wharton’s youth.

For St Thomas, we are asking for non perishable foods, toiletry items, and baby care items, to include diapers, baby food, etc.

About The Show
The show is a animated show that uses controllers to make the lights dance with the music. We currently have 10 controllers, that contain 16 channels on each. For a total of 160 channels. I am running a separate 20 amp breaker for each 8 channels. To which this comes up to a total amperage use of 200 amps of power the show. With the 200 amps I have approximately 42,000 individual bulbs. Then I am currently using a additional 40 amps to run the blow ups, and rope light figures that are scattered around the yard. The programming is done on a PC, and the system has a built in FM transmiiter that allows you to set in your car, to listen to the music as well watch the show. Tune your radio to 94.9 FM. if you enjoyed the show, or have any comments about the show please log onto my guest book and do so there. This will be open for anyone that visits the site to see your feedback

Who Are We
Wharton Texas Christmas was created because my wife and myself felt that we should help others that are in need during the Holidays. In 2006, we started using animated lighting at our home, and thought that we could utilize the show to start raising funds to help others. It was a great success. We have raised a little over $8,000.00, 2.1 tons of food, and numerous boxes of clothes, toilet products, diapers, coats, etc in the 3 years that we have been working with our our local charities. This was made possible because of great neighbors in our community.
Thank You to all of the great support that we have in Wharton County.
